Pooley Bridge, Ullswater

4 Feb

Only a short drive from home is Pooley Bridge, a small village on the edge of Ullswater. A few weeks ago I walked from Pooley Bridge along the lakeside path towards Howtown with our dog Pip, taking photographs along the way. There was a slight covering of snow on the ground and it was a cold but bright day, below are some of the images I took.

Whilst in Rhodes I travelled to the island of Symi and visited a particularly colourful and very beautiful town as well as a famous monastery.

Lindos, Rhodes

8 Jun

Following the disassembly of my degree show I flew out to Rhodes for a short break with my mum and as always when travelling I took hundreds of photographs, some of which I have documented in the following slide shows. Whilst in Rhodes we stayed in Lindos a very pretty little town with narrow, twisting cobbled streets, white wash buildings and lots of donkeys! Towering above the town is the acropolis, which we visited on the first day.

A Day Out in Cumbria

4 Feb

On my last day at home before returning to university for my final semester I went walking with my mum and the latest addition to our family, Pip, a lovely 6 month old rescue puppy. It was a lovely winter morning, icy yet bright and sunny, below are some of the photographs I took from the shores of Derwentwater.

After a morning walking and a spot of shopping we visited Rheged to see the ‘WOW: Wonder of Wool and the Art of Knit and Stitch’ exhibition. The exhibition features the work of 20 artists and designers, the work on show was very varied; I particularly liked the work of Celia Pym who mends frayed and holed garments.  Unfortunately I cannot find a website for Celia Pym but some images of her work and some more information is available here: http://www.transitionandinfluence.com/gallery/celiapymstatement.html

Ullswater in January

3 Jan

I am lucky to live in a beautiful part of the country and even on a cold, windy and wet day in January the Lake District is a great place to go walking. Yesterday I went for a walk from Howtown, a hamlet on the edge of Ullswater, with my mum and our 5 month old puppy, Pip. Below are some of the photographs I took.
