Terrible Design

28 Jul

I ordered some bight yellow Fly London sandals from Amazon only a couple of days ago, as they are quite quirky and something a little bit different for my holiday or so i thought. After eagerly unwrapping them today and trying them on I was quickly disappointed. The shoes are ridiculous! Even when i adjusted the straps as much as possible my foot slides that far forward in the sandal that my toes are all on the floor when i walk. This is not because the shoes themselves are too big for my feet, the foot bed in fact is the correct size but the straps are all the wrong size and do nothing to hold my foot in place.

I have since contacted Fly London and hope they will attempt to resolve the problem as at the moment theses shoes may be aesthetically pleasing, but they are completely useless.

The Sketchbook Project 2011

Browsing design blogs has become a habit of mine, I think it is a fantastic source of inspiration! Tonight I stumbled across a link to ‘The Sketchbook Project’ which i have just signed up for.

The idea is that thousands of people from across the world register for a sketchbook, complete their sketchbook based on one of the chosen themes and then return the sketchbook. The sketchbooks tour America and then become part of a permanent library collection. For a small fee your work can also be digitized. Sounds like fun to me!

I have chosen the theme ‘If you lived here…’ and i am eager to get started. When my book does arrive I will update my blog to let you know how i am getting along.

Why don’t you get involved?!

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

Beginning to figure things out…

26 Jul

I am a complete WordPress beginner, determined to figure out exactly how to create my perfect blog! So far my blog is definitely work in progress but being a list loving individual I have decided that I want to do the following:

  • Customize my blog with images of my own work
  • Document my Textile Design work
  • Add links to my Flickr and Twitter pages
  • Blog about my design inspirations
  • Add some videos and photographs

I intend my blog  to be both a source of information and to some extent an online diary, which I can look back upon in a few years to come. Perhaps with a lot of hard work and may be a little luck between now and then, I might just graduate with a first class honours and become a successful designer! Despite my mum’s view that ‘design is a waste of time’. Only time will tell…
